A few years back, say about the time when a certain Hussein was being hanged, who would have thought — or wagered — that another Husein would soon be giving USA’s State of the Union speech. Wait, there is more. Who could have imagined that a certain Piyush Jindal will be asked to give the Republican response to the State of the Union speech?
Barack changed his religion from Islam to Catholicism but kept his name — that required courage — and Piyush converted from Hinduism to Catholicism but changed his first name to Bobby.
Yakov Smirnoff signature line is “What a Country!”. This is an apt description. It’s truly the land of immigrants.
p.s: It seems that Bobby was a “pre-existing condition” when his mother arrived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. That is, his mother was 4-1/2 months pregnant. Had she arrived 6 months later, Bobby would have to be content to remain a Governor — like Arnold Schwarzenegger — and not have Presidential aspirations: unless the constitution is changed. As for Arnie, I wouldn’t be surprised if they amend the constitution just for him. Nothing will surprise me.
